Double photoexcitation of He atoms by attosecond xuv pulses in the presence of intense few-cycle infrared lasers

چکیده
We studied the photoelectron spectra of He atoms resulting from double photoexcitation to autoionizing states by an attosecond xuv pulse in the presence of intense few-cycle Ti:sapphire lasers using the timedependent hyperspherical close-coupling method. In its first application we show that the combination of a weak xuv pulse and an intense infrared laser offers an efficient means for probing states that cannot be reached by single photoabsorption experiments alone. The method provides an alternative approach of studying Stark induced states at field strength much higher than that available for a dc electric field. Using parameters from the presently available attosecond pulses and infrared lasers we showed that the four singlet 2,2,8 doubly excited states of He are prominently excited in such experiments. The dependence of the shape of the autoionizing states thus generated has been studied with respect to the intensity and the carrier-envelope phase of the few-cycle laser pulses.

Circularly-polarized laser-assisted photoionization spectra of argon for attosecond pulse measurements.
Angle-resolved photoelectron spectra of argon atoms by XUV attosecond pulses in the presence of a circularly polarized laser field are calculated to examine their dependence on the duration and the chirp of the attosecond pulses. From the calculated electron spectra, we show how to retrieve the duration and the chirp of the attosecond pulse using genetic algorithm. The method is expected to be ...
متن کاملGeneration, characterization and sub-cycle shaping of intense, few-cycle light waveforms for attosecond spectroscopy
Our desire to observe electron dynamics in atoms and molecules on their natural timescale with the tools of attosecond physics demands ever shorter laser pulse durations. The reliance of this young eld on laser pulses is understandable: both the generation and the characterization of attosecond pulses, as well as time-resolved measurements directly use the electrical eld that lasts only for a f...
متن کاملAttosecond time-resolved autoionization of argon.
Autoionization of argon atoms was studied experimentally by transient absorption spectroscopy with isolated attosecond pulses. The peak position, intensity, linewidth, and shape of the 3s3p⁶np ¹P Fano resonance series (26.6-29.2 eV) were modified by intense few-cycle near infrared laser pulses, while the delay between the attosecond pulse and the laser pulse was changed by a few femtoseconds. N...
متن کاملCharacterization of attosecond XUV pulses utilizing a broadband UV ~ VUV pumping
We propose a simple scheme to characterize attosecond extreme ultraviolet (XUV) pulses. A broadband ultraviolet (UV) ∼ vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) pump pulse creates a coherent superposition of atomic bound states, from which photoionization takes place by the time-delayed attosecond XUV probe pulse. Information on the spectral phase of the XUV pulse can be extracted from the phase offset of the i...
متن کاملDependence of Tunneling Ionization and Harmonic Generation on the Structure of Molecules by Short Intense Laser Pulses
We illustrate how the sub-10fs lasers and attosecond XUV pulses can be used to probe the structure of molecules. Experimental results of the alignment dependence of the ionization rates and the high-order harmonic generation yields are shown to reflect the structure of the highest occupied molecular orbital. We also show that the vibrational wave packet of simple molecules can be mapped accurat...
